We are... We are Rick Freeman, Victoria Earle, Rick's daughter Eva (pictured) and his son Olly. We make the drinks in a converted shed behind our home in Barrow Gurney, where we also bottle them, label them and do pretty much everything else in between. Sometimes we even get round to selling them. How it all began.... Once upon a time Rick started making elderflower cordial in his shed after a good friend gave him a recipe. As people kept telling him how 'lovely' it was he decided to register the domain name Lovely Drinks, buy a load of glass bottles and start producing presse. He carried on serving it to friends and family until he met Vicky last year and being quite bossy she persuaded him to start selling them. To cut a long story short we designed some labels, bought a table, printed a few flyers and off we went to the Lovefood Festival in Bristol. To our surprise other people liked them too - and even bought them! - so Lovely Drinks Ltd was born. Then what happened... We began to get trade interest and things just took off from there. We bought a small pasteuriser and other pieces of kit and we were off. We started experimenting with different flavours and discovered an apple expert Keith Goverd who lives nearby in Chew Valley and now supplies us with his wonderful single variety apple juices. This summer we picked a whole load of elderflowers from our garden and friends' land (luckily we know a few farmers!) and to keep up with demand we planted 100 elderflower trees in our garden. We currently make the following drinks: Apple & Elderflower (Great Taste Awards 2009 Gold winner), Elderflower Bubbly , Elderflower & Rose (Taste of the West Awards 2009 Silver winner) Elderflower & Ginger (Taste of the West Awards 2009 Bronze winner) and Apple & Ginger (Taste of the West Awards 2009 Bronze winner). We've just launched five new drinks: Blackcurrant & Elderflower, Cottage Garden Lemonade, Ginger Beer, Fizzy Apple & Blackcurrant and Apple & Blackcurrant Juice. We also supply a delicious sweet Somerset Apple Juice. To find out more go to the drinks page here...
